A MISSION TO HEAL

A Little Piece of Light (ALPOL) seeks to empower and facilitate healing for women, girls, and gender-fluid individuals who are directly impacted by trauma from and involvement in the criminal justice system.

Led by formerly incarcerated and family members of incarcerated individuals, ALPOL mobilizes those that share their collective trauma incited by sexism, racism, violence, poverty, and incarceration.

I share my story in hopes that it will save a life.

DONNA HYLTON, Founder

As an activist, speaker, reentry specialist, and author, Donna Hylton’s work and philosophy is to reverse the alarming, ever-increasing rate of incarceration endured by women and girls of color. Her commitment extends to the development of damaged communities and pathways for the safe and successful reentry of women and girls.

ALPOL has made a name for itself as a leader in criminal justice reform, collective healing, community empowerment, and grassroots mobilization through its various programs both inside and outside. By mindfully cultivating strong collaborative partnerships at the grassroots level and at the systemic level with community members directly impacted, fellow nonprofits, lawmakers, activists, and professionals operating within the criminal justice system, ALPOL is poised to realize its campaign goals and its greater mission: to heal.
